NIS Report Need for Inclusive Art
The National Innovation Service (NIS), with the NYC Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Safety (ONS), needed to showcase a year-long report that reimagines the way we define community safety.
What Does Safety Look Like
The client's web report was in search of approachable, fun, and inclusive illustrations to go alongside the study. NIS talked to individuals specifically in black and brown neighborhoods. What was the consensus? Residents shared that safety means so much more than crime. In collaboration with Odd Research Group, I was tasked to create engaging illustrations that represented and brought this data to life—taking special care to create characters of all shapes.
Showcasing Culture and Diversity
Full immersive, engaging, and inclusive illustrations were created to showcase the individuals involved in the study. Supporting elements and infographics were developed in tandem to give visuals to details of the report as well.
